Referral Programme Terms

1. What counts as a successful referral

A referral counts only when all four of the following are completed:

• The person is new — they have never had a Michi account. A different spelling of an existing address (for example +tags, or dots in a Gmail address) is treated as the same account.
• They register using your personal referral link. The code must be present at registration; it cannot be added afterwards.
• They confirm their email address by clicking the link we send them.
• They unlock at least one shopper's contact details using their own unlock allowance.

2. The reward

• You earn +1 unlock after every 2 successful referrals.
• The reward can be earned at most 2 times (a maximum of +2 unlocks), so at most 4 referred people are counted. Referrals beyond that do not earn further rewards.
• Bonus unlocks are added to your free unlock allowance and are used when you unlock a new shopper. Re-opening a shopper you have already unlocked does not use another unlock.
• Bonus unlocks have no cash value, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged, and can only be used to unlock shopper contact details. They do not expire while your account is active. If you subscribe to Michi Member you have unlimited unlocks; bonus unlocks are not converted into money or subscription time.
• The reward is applied automatically once the conditions in section 1 are met. You can follow your progress in "My Michi".

3. What does not count

• Referring yourself, or accounts you or your household control, and creating more than one account per person.
• Disposable or temporary email addresses, and addresses that cannot receive email.
• People who sign up from the same device or the same network (IP address) as you — including a household, office, school or shared Wi-Fi. These referrals are rejected automatically, so if the person you invite lives with you or shares your network, the referral cannot count.
• More than 3 new accounts created from one network within 24 hours. If 3 or more people register through your link within 24 hours, the referrals are held for manual review.
• Spam, misleading claims, automated or bulk posting, or offering money or other incentives to get people to register through your link.

4. Review and our rights

• Some referrals may be held for manual review. This can take a few working days, and our decision is final.
• We may reject or reverse any referral, and withdraw bonus unlocks obtained in breach of these terms, if we reasonably believe the rules were broken. We may suspend or close accounts involved in abuse.
• We may change, pause or end the programme at any time. Changes will not remove bonus unlocks you have already earned in accordance with these terms.

5. How we detect abuse (your data)

To keep the programme fair we confirm every email address, and at sign-up we store a one-way (hashed) form of the network address and a device identifier. They are used only to detect duplicate or abusive accounts, cannot be turned back into your actual IP address, and are kept while your account exists. See our Privacy Policy, section 1.9.

6. Earlier version

Before 20 September 2026, both you and your friend received +1 unlock immediately when your friend registered. That no longer applies. Any bonus unlocks granted under the earlier version remain valid.
